Shopify launches Canvas, enabling online store building through conversation with AI

Shopify launches site-building tool Canvas, where merchants can build a Shopify store by chatting with the AI agent Sidekick, replacing the previous method of editing themes by dragging and dropping modules. Canvas renders the store's real code in real time rather than a static preview, allowing testing of full page interactions and animations and viewing effects under different screen sizes; Shopify also gives Sidekick the ability to directly operate theme files and simplifies the theme architecture.
