OpenAI launches Decisions API, rivaling TypeSafe AI's Jev decision model

OpenAI released the Decisions API at Dev Day, which can preset options for the Luna model and output probabilities, with functionality similar to the software automation model Jev launched earlier this month by TypeSafe AI. The API is currently a limited preview, and Altman said focusing on a single choice lets the model run extremely fast while retaining image understanding, multilingual and safety capabilities. Developers have used Jev to monitor AI agent behavior, at a single monitoring cost of 2.94 US dollars, whereas a frontier LLM requires 372 US dollars.
