OpenAI stated that an Iran-linked operation used ChatGPT to generate approximately 100 articles, published on at least 20 U.S. news websites. The articles mostly appeared under fictitious bylines, such as Ervin Hoskins, and contained commentary critical of the war in Iran. The same byline also appeared on larger platforms like Daily Kos and Middle East Monitor, which together have over 3 million followers on Facebook.
