MIT Associate Professor Christina Delimitrou Uses AI to Improve Data Center Energy Efficiency

Christina Delimitrou, Associate Professor in MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, uses machine learning to optimize resource management in large-scale data centers, enabling existing hardware to deliver stronger computing power and reducing the need for new data centers. She found that the utilization rate of most large computing systems is only about 15%, and her team's Seer tool can use deep learning to predict and prevent Web application failures in advance. She also uses AI to help programmers locate and fix cloud application problems, reducing downtime and computing power waste.
