Some mathematicians call for boycotting OpenAI as AI-generated mathematical proofs flood the field
The AHM organization, presided over by Terence Tao, issued a statement calling for a boycott of OpenAI, claiming its mass release of over 700 AI-generated proof documents was a display of power rather than academic behavior. Previously, OpenAI claimed its internal models solved more than 100 open math problems within a month, with a success rate of approximately 5% on about 8,000 test questions, averaging 3 hours of GPT-Pro-level compute per question.
