Florida police say scammers are using AI to clone the voice of a sheriff for fraud.
Police in Osceola County, Florida, reported that scammers used AI to clone Sheriff Steve Moser's voice and paired it with his photo to leave voicemail messages for a resident, impersonating him on the phone. Such scams impersonating law enforcement under the guise of jury duty or arrest warrants are spreading across multiple states; Georgia and Pennsylvania also saw related reports in the past week. In Florida, impersonating a police officer is a Class 3 felony.
