The hierarchical Namespace system Mantle of Baidu AI Cloud object storage BOS was selected into the 2026 China Computing Power Conference 'Computing Power China · Annual Major Breakthrough Achievement'. Paper evaluations show that compared with Tectonic, InfiniFS, and LocoFS, Mantle metadata access latency is reduced by 6.6% to 99.1%, interactive Spark analysis job completion time is shortened by 63.3% to 93.3%, AI audio preprocessing tasks shortened by 38.5% to 47.7%. Mantle has been running at scale in BOS production environment for three years.
