China holds briefing at the UN for the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference: will uphold open-source and open approach to plan global governance

China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations held a briefing for the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference at UN Headquarters in New York. Ambassador Fu Cong stated that China will uphold the concept of open source and openness, and discuss global AI governance with all parties. UN officials spoke highly of the significance of the conference, and 29 countries have signed the agreement to establish the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization.
