This applies to totals frozen after processing and full-sheet writes overwriting computed columns. Preserve the workbook and formula inventory and record intended edits. Some read modes return last-calculated values instead of expressions, which lose logic if written back. A correct current total may merely be an incidental cache.

Inspect data-only loading and whole-row or whole-range replacement. Check formula scopes, references and named ranges and determine whether the library actually calculates. Formula preservation and recalculation are distinct capabilities; a file reader/writer does not automatically recalculate every expression.
