Microsoft, Nvidia, Meta and 22 other US tech companies jointly signed an open letter, urging the US government to support open-weight AI models. People are literally token-maxxing themselves into hospital beds, scrambling to capture some of that market value before everything is automated away. I can’t blame them. Models keep getting better, programmers are being laid off left and right. We’ve been repeatedly told that AI will write 100% of the code by the end of the year. Whether that’s true or not, this may not be the best time to sit back.

Claude-thermos: keeps Claude session cache warm, avoids re-encoding costs

Stop paying to rebuild your Claude Code cache. When your main agent waits on a subagent for more than 5 minutes, its prompt cache silently expires, and the next turn re-encodes your entire conversation at the write rate instead of reading it back cheap. On long sessions with many subagents that's roughly 20% of your bill. claude-thermos keeps the cache warm so you never pay that tax.

Kimi K3 lags far behind US frontier models in cybersecurity exploit testing; knowledge distillation may be the reason

The British AI Security Institute and the U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation tested Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 on offensive cyber tasks. Kimi K3 scored 32 percent on ExploitBench, compared with 76 percent for leading U.S. models, while its safeguards failed to block exploit development or simulated attacks. The gap between its strong general benchmark scores and weaker cyber performance also fits allegations that Moonshot AI distilled Anthropic's models.
