Pew survey: Most Americans do not accept doctors using AI for diagnosis alone
A new Pew Research survey reveals that 60% of Americans feel uneasy about doctors using AI for diagnosis and treatment, while only 3% accept AI making diagnoses independently. However, 47% are comfortable with AI diagnoses reviewed by humans. The survey also finds that 78% of Americans accept AI for translating medical information to patients, yet 46% reject its involvement in insurance claim decisions. Additionally, 51% expect AI to worsen health data security, and among adults under 30, the proportion expecting AI to make patient outcomes worse has risen from 29% in 2022 to 45%.
