Ben Affleck on Machine Learning and Python in Visual Effects Workflows

Ben Affleck stated that he began developing an interest in computers when transitioning from film to digital cinema, and would write 'pretty bad Python scripts.' He mentioned that visual effects workflows have included machine learning for years; convolutional neural networks, as precursors to Transformers, can process tensors to perform edge detection and feature extraction, making it easier to key out green screen footage and replace backgrounds.
