Planet launches Planet AI app to track changes in satellite imagery over more than a decade using natural language queries

US satellite data company Planet launched the Planet AI app on November 5th, combining large language models with over a decade of global satellite imagery archives. It supports natural language search, observation, and analysis of surface changes and is now freely available at ai.planet.com. The product offers three core capabilities: searching Earth, exploring changes, and conducting deep analysis. All conclusions are based on viewable original satellite imagery to reduce model hallucination risks. Early testers primarily use it for ecological protection, land management, and environmental compliance.
