Turning a sentence into a 3D model with AI: How to make it truly adjustable in size?
The text-to-cad README lists Python 3.11, Node.js 20, first-run downloads and STEP, GLB, STL and 3MF outputs.
What to consider
The text-to-cad README lists Python 3.11, Node.js 20, first-run downloads and STEP, GLB, STL and 3MF outputs. It also describes default usage and crash telemetry and an opt-out. Local execution does not automatically mean no network requests. Formats retain different structure; a displayable mesh is not necessarily a parameter-editable design project.
Before modeling, which dimensions and relationships must be clarified?
First describe the object’s purpose and appearance, then organize known dimensions such as length, width, thickness, hole positions, or other key measurements, specifying units clearly. When dimensions are undetermined, list them as parameters to be selected, retaining the reasons why adjustments might be needed. Ensure inputs required by the model come from existing requirements to reduce reliance on the model filling in missing information.
Also write down the relationships that parameters must maintain, such as a position adjusting with overall size or two parts needing to correspond to the same dimension. Distinguish between determined requirements and shapes you wish to explore to facilitate reviewing the impact of changes later. This lists input organization methods and does not infer that the project will automatically identify all design conditions.
"Can edit" in the model, what actions actually need to be checked?
Select a size most likely to be modified daily, change it, and check if the result meets expectations, then examine other relationships that need to be maintained. Save the states and operation methods before and after modification. If regeneration is possible but the corresponding editable content cannot be found, write this situation into the trial results; do not directly treat it as a completed, editable delivery.
Continue checking whether the next user can locate the corresponding size position, understand parameter names, and repeat the same modifications. When encountering shape anomalies or relationship failures, record the input and changed parts, then return to the processing requirements. These actions constitute my own acceptance method, not a description of the current editing functions of the collected project.
Why deliver views and parameter descriptions together?
When delivering, retain the model, key views, and dimension descriptions, noting the generation basis, completed modification checks, and pending requirements. Relying solely on one appearance image makes it difficult for successors to know which parts are finalized; keeping these materials together facilitates further discussion, modification, and comparison of different options.
When is it appropriate to move a modeling draft to the next step?
When key dimensions are clear, daily modifications can be repeated, and successors can understand the current state, proceed with prototypes according to existing design processes. List assembly verification or other requirements separately for the relevant stages to continue checking. If requirements are still changing, keeping clear drafts and issue records is also a viable deliverable.
Check results with a fixed input
Use a bracket forty millimetres wide with a five-millimetre hole. Change only the width to fifty millimetres, checking that the hole diameter and position constraints remain. Inspect the project source separately from exported meshes. Scaling everything, including the hole, does not complete the parameter-change task. No bracket was generated or printed and no manufacturing accuracy is claimed.
